The first family of Centennial football

The 6-A high school football playoffs start next Friday, and 3-seed Centennial will open against 6-seed Eastview. Centennial has a chance to make a nice run, thanks in large part to the Diggins family.

KSTP Sports featured the first family of Centennial football Thursday night.

Mike Diggins is Centennial’s head coach, with his son, Michael, the defensive coordinator. The lifeblood of the program is Kelli Diggins, Mike’s wife and Michael’s mom. To a man, players and staff, they say that they wouldn’t be where they are without Kelli.

Centennial finished the regular season 4-4, including wins over Maple Grove (7-1) and Wayzata (5-2). Centennial’s losses came against Stillwater (7-0), St. Michael-Albertville (4-4), Minnetonka (6-1) and Woodbury (7-1).
