KSTP Sports caught up with head coach Sheila McGill and senior Alex Balfour before they take on the Panthers.
Before they take on Northern Iowa, the Tommies had three exhibition games against the University of Minnesota, Viterbo, and Minnesota State-Mankato. They are now ready to play a 17-game schedule, including 10 road tilts in eight different states.
McGill spoke about the honor it is to be the first team to compete in Division I for the university, how the transition from Division III to Division I has been, what she would deem a successful season, and how her players will be able to handle the jump in competition.
Balfour talked about the excitement she has to be the first sports program to play in Division I for Tommie athletics, if she is more excited or nervous for the game against the Panthers, how honored she is to now be a Division I soccer player, and what she would consider being a successful season.
