St. Thomas football takes down Valpo

The University of St. Thomas Tommies football team defeated the Valparaiso Beacons 20-13, Saturday afternoon at O’Shaughnessy Stadium.


St. Thomas took the lead when senior running back Tom Loeffler scored a touchdown run to make it 7-3 Tommies with 8:38 left in the first half.

The Tommies had a long drive to start the second half. Quarterback Cade Sexauer finsihed the drive with a touchdown run to make it 14-3 St. Thomas with 9:11 left in the third quarter.

Following a huge play to wideout Wesley Juszczak, Loeffler scored his second rushing touchdown of the day to put the Tommies up 20-3 late in the third quarter.

Valpo did scored a fourth quarter touchjdown to make the game intersting, but Tommie defensive back Isaiah Hall sealed the victory with an interception late in the fourth quarter.
