St. Paul Como Park football routs Humboldt following huge first quarter

The St. Paul Como Park Cougars defeated the St. Paul Humboldt Hawks, 36-0, Thursday evening at Como Park High School.

On the first offensive drive of the game, junior quarterback Jude Breen hit senior tight end Sully Lucy, who broke multiple tackles, for a touchdown to put the Cougars up 7-0.
Then, on the ensuing offensive drive for the Hawks, Cougars defensive back Johntae Hudson scooped and scored on a Humboldt fumble to give Como Park a 14-0 with 9:57 left in the first quarter.
Continuing their stellar start, the Cougars forced yet another fumble, which was recovered by Hudson yet again. That set up an easy touchdown run for Kaelyb Sears. It was 21-0 Como Park with 9:35 left in the first quarter.
The score remained the same until the second quarter. Como Park put together a long, time-consuming drive that ended with a Breen touchdown pass to senior wideout Nick Rein. It was 29-0 Cougars heading into halftime.
Early in the third quarter, Como Park started with great field position following a good punt return. That position then set up a long touchdown run from junior running back Santos Aguirre to make it 36-0 Cougars.
Como Park would end up winning, 36-0, improving to 3-0 on the season.
