Ricky Rubio excited to be back in Minnesota

Ricky Rubio met with Twin Cities local media for the first time since being re-acquired by the Minnesota Timberwolves on the night of the 2020 NBA Draft.

Rubio was initially traded from the Phoenix Suns to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the deal that sent Chris Paul to the Suns. Then, the Thunder agreed to send Rubio and the 25th and 28th picks in the draft to Minnesota in exchange for the 17th overall pick and forward James Johnson.

Rubio played for the Suns last season, averaging 13.0 points, 8.8 assists, and 4.7 rebounds. In his six seasons with the Timberwolves Rubio averaged 10.3 points, 8.5 assists, and 4.2 rebounds.

The Timberwolves started individuals workouts Tuesday, with the first full training camp practice coming in a few days.
