The 6-foot-8 forward was known as a great defender and rebounder over his four years playing for Boston College. Across his 108-game career in the ACC, he averaged 6.8 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and one block per game.
Mitchell’s junior year was his best, as he averaged 8.7 rebounds per game, an average of 3.1 coming from the offensive end, and over two steals per contest. That earned him a spot on the ACC All-Defensive Team and an All-ACC Honorable Mention.
San Diego State, Utah, and the Gophers were all after his services, as he was weighing whether to go pro or play a last season in college.
