Bjugstad, 28, played three seasons of college hockey at the University of Minnesota and was the 19th overall pick in the first round of the 2010 NHL Draft. In 439 career NHL games with Florida and Pittsburgh, he’s collected 207 points.
Bjugstad had spinal surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester in May. He only played 13 games last season for Pittsburgh.
Bjugstad is entering the final year of his contract.
