The Gophers recently dipped into the transfer portal and secured a commitment from former Western Kentucky cornerback Beanie Bishop.
We spoke with Bishop about his decision to come to Minnesota. He’ll arrive on campus in mid-January for second semester classes and winter workouts.

Bishop, who also excels as a kick returner, will have two years of eligibility remaining.
The Florida native was named an All-Conference USA First Team selection in 2021 for his play on defense, as well as earning honorable mention selection on kickoff returns. Bishop made 41 tackles last season, including 6.5 for loss, ha three interceptions, and forced a fumble.
Bishop told us that he can play in the slot or outside. The Gophers are losing cornerbacks Coney Durr and Justus Harris.
