The Timberwolves finished the 2020-21 season with a record of 23-49, but did go 9-7 in their last 16 games. Is that enough reason for optimism?
We caught up with TrueHoop.com NBA analyst David Thorpe to tackle that topic and more on the Wolves’ future.

The Wolves will find out on June 22 if they keep their draft pick this year, or have to give up to the Warriors from the D’Angelo Russell-Andrew Wiggins trade. The Wolves give Golden State the pick if it’s 4 or lower. They have slightly less than a 28 percent chance to land in the top-3.
The Wolves, per recent conversations with owner Glen Taylor and president of operations Gersson Rosas, are expected to be aggressive in trade talks this summer. Adding a power forward to play next to Karl-Anthony Towns remains a high priority. The Wolves could also pivot and add a center and ask Towns to guard opposing power forwards.
