Update: Ish-El-Amin committed to Rhode Island Thursday morning. The Gophers did not make him an offer.

Former Hopkins high school guard Ish El-Amin has entered the transfer portal after a solid four year run at Ball State. He was a 1,000 point scorer and a team leader.

We caught up with El-Amin, who has heard from the Gophers, and is very interested in wearing the Maroon and Gold for new coach Ben Johnson.

El-Amin averaged 16.2 points, three rebounds and 2.9 assists this season. He previously put his name in the portal last year, but chose to return to Ball State. Rhode Island and Washington are among other schools to check in on him.

Ish’s dad is Khalid El-Amin, who starred at Minneapolis North in the late 90s, went on to help UCONN win a national title, then had a nice pro career that included some NBA time.
