Q&A: Gophers football commit Nathan Jones

Brock, Texas high school tight end Nathan Jones flipped his commitment Tuesday from Abilene Christian to the Gophers. We spoke with him about joining the 2022 Gophers recruiting class.

A Gophers coach watched Jones play a few weeks ago, then extended him the opportunity to visit campus last weekend. Jones did, and while here, head coach P.J. Fleck extended him an offer.
Jones is the 14th commit for the Gophers’ 2022 class, the first since the summer. He joins Columbia Heights’ Spencer Alvarez as tight ends committed.
Jones was a Texas District 4-3A D-I first-team selection as a junior and plays basketball and track and field for his school.
