St. Paul’s Tim Tschida, an umpire in Major League Baseball for 27 years, has some strong opinions about the sticky stuff controversy.

Former Twin and current Mariners pitcher Hector Santiago became the first player disciplined under Major League Baseball’s crackdown on grip-enhancing foreign substances when he was given a 10-game suspension. The new rules came into play last month.

Tschida is now a bartender at Mancini’s in St. Paul.
