Wide receiver Jamarye Joiner recently announced his intentions to transfer from Arizona and the Gophers hopped in immediately with an offer. Arizona fired its coach, Kevin Sumlin, which is a factor in Joiner’s decision.

We talked with Joiner about his interest in Minnesota and whether the Wednesday news of Texas A&M transfer receiver Dylan Wright choosing the Gophers has an impact.

Joiner, a redshirt sophomore, played both quarterback and receiver for Arizona in three seasons. He appeared in two games as a QB in 2018 before getting switched to receiver prior to the 2019 season.

He caught 46 passes for 663 yards and six touchdowns, including a 34-yard score in Arizona’s season-opening loss to USC.

His best game came in 2019, a 140-yard, two-touchdown performance in a loss to Arizona State.

Joiner is listed at 6-feet-1, weighing 214 pounds.
