Park Center’s Braeden Carrington is Gopher basketball’s first ’22 commit
New Gopher basketball coach Ben Johnson has landed his first prospect from the state’s loaded Class of 2022, earning a commitment from Park Center standout Braeden Carrington.
Carrington made an unofficial visit to the U in June, then met with Johnson and his staff on an official visit this week before announcing his verbal commitment in a social media post at high noon on Wednesday.

Carrington also had offers from Florida, Missouri, Seton Hall and Vanderbilt.
Several other in-state Class of 2022 standouts are still uncommitted including Park’s Pharrel Payne, Cretin-Derham Hall’s Tre Holloman, Byron’s Ahjany Lee, Hopkins’ Elvis Nnaji and Minnehaha Academy’s Prince Aligbe. Payne and Hollomon are atop the Gophers’ wish list.
