No. 4 Cretin-Derham Hall boys hockey take down No. 1 Hermantown

The No. 4 (Class AA) Cretin-Derham Hall Raiders boys hockey team defeated the No. 1 (Class A) Hermantown Hawks 4-2, on Wednesday evening at Highland Ice Arena.

Hermantown led 1-0 after the first period following a goal by junior forward Wyatt Carlson.

In the second period, the Hawks had two players in the penalty box at once and the Raiders took full advantage. Raider senior forward Drew Fisher assisted senior defenseman Zach Sondreal for a goal to make it 1-1 with 10:23 left in the period. Not even a minute later, junior defenseman Joey Sylvester assisted senior forward Gabe Rasmussen to make it 2-1 Cretin-Derham Hall with 9:29 left in the second period.

In the third, the Hawks tied it up when sophomore forward Max Plante assisted junior forward Kade Kohanski to make it 2-2 with 11:45 left in the game.

However, the Raiders would answer when junior forward Attilla Lippai scored off a rebound to make it 3-2 with 4:56 left in the game. Junior forward Jake Fisher scored an empty-net goal to make it a 4-2 final.
