No. 1 seed Stillwater baseball dominates Tartan

The No. 1 seeded (Section 4AAAA) Stillwater Ponies defeated the Tartan Titans 12-0 on Wednesday afternoon at Stillwater High School.

Following a 1-2-3 top of the first inning, Stillwater broke out the bats in a big way. The nine-run inning was started when outfielder Kade Peloquin had a bunt hit to load the bases for the Ponies. First baseman Gavin Zurn hit a 2-RBI single to make 2-0. Then, designated hitter Mason McCurdy had an RBI single to make it 3-0. Second baseman Gavin Madison ripped a 2-RBI double to make it 5-0. Stillwater then bunted in a run to make it 6-0. Shortstop and North Carolina commit, Alex Ritzer then added a 2-RBI double to make it 8-0. Finally, Peloquin had an RBI triple in his second at-bat in the first inning to make it 9-0 Ponies.

In the bottom of the second inning, Stillwater added to their lead when Nolan LaCosse had an RBI single to make it 10-0 Stillwater. Capping things off for the Ponies was Brayden Hellum when he hit a 2-RBI double to make it 12-0 Stillwater.

Then, in the top of the fifth inning, Hellum got the last three outs to close the game for the Ponies. Stillwater will face the winner of East Ridge vs. Woodbury on Saturday at Northwestern University in St. Paul.
