No. 1 Edina girls lacrosse rallies to defeat Blake

The No. 1 Edina Hornets girls lacrosse team defeated the No. 5 Blake Bears 18-9, Tuesday evening at Blake High School.

Blake started out the game strong hot following two Erin Lee goals and another goal, off a Lee shot, from Ellie Morrison. The Bears were up 3-0 not even ten minutes into the game. In the first half, Blake stretched the lead to 6-2 when Morrison scored with five minutes left in the half.
From that point on, Edina dominated the game. Edina is led by senior Haley Reeck, who is going to the University of Louisville to play college lacrosse. Reeck scored her second goal of the game to make it 6-3 Blake with 2:32 left in the first half. From there, junior Cordelia Flemming scored three straight goals, including one with 3.8 seconds left in the first half to make it a 6-6 game.
In the second half, Edina continued to roll with 12 goals in the half. Along with Flemming and Reeck scoring at will, sophomore Elle Busby and sophomore Nicola Santoni each scored for the Hornets. But, Reeck and Flemming were the stars of the game. Reeck finished with eight goals, while Flemming scored seven of her own for the Hornets.
Following the 6-2 deficit, Edina outscored Blake 16-3 the remainder of the game. Blake falls to 8-3 on the season, while Edina improved to 12-0 on the year.
