No. 1 Columbia Heights defeat Richfield, stay unbeaten

The No. 1 Columbia Heights Hylanders defeated the Richfield Spartans 84-73, on Thursday evening, at Richfield High School.

Richfield’s senior big man Jaden Wollmuth dominated the paint in the first half. He finished the first half with 21 points and singlehandedly kept Richfield in the game, leading them to a 46-46 first-half score heading into the break.

However, the Hylanders stepped up their defense in the second half. Wollmuth only scored seven second-half points, finishing with 28 points on the night. Senior guard Mitchell January finished the game with 20 points for Richfield and senior Jaedyn Patterson finished with 14 points to go along with two massive dunks.

The Hylanders were just too much on offense for the Spartans. Columbia Heights has a balanced offense, leading to four players scoring in double figures. Senior guard Mujahiid Burton led the way with 24 points, sophomore guard Jency David added 21 points, senior guard Terrence Brown scored 18 points, and senior forward Andrew Scoggins finished with 10 points for the Hylanders.

Columbia Heights improves to 17-0 on the season.
