Before signing a 3-year deal with the New York Jets last offseason, tight end Tyler Conklin spent the first four years of his career with the Vikings.

So, Sunday at U.S. Bank Stadium will be a homecoming.

KSTP Sports’ Darren ‘Doogie’ Wolfson caught up with Conklin, via Zoom, to hear about how emotional this weekend will be.

Conklin has 38 catches for 381 yards and three touchdowns this year. After going 4-13 in 2021, New York is 7-4 and in playoff contention. In other words, Sunday is a big game for Conklin and the Jets vs. the 9-2 Vikings.

Conklin, a 5th-round pick of the Vikings in 2018, took a big step forward last year. Able to play many snaps after Irv Smith Jr. was lost for the year, he produced 61 catches for 593 yards. That helped earn him a three-year, $20.25 million free-agent contract with the Jets. The Vikings did not make an attempt to re-sign him.
