NBA’s Anthony Tolliver on possible resumption of season: ‘Guys want to play’

Former Timberwolves forward Anthony Tolliver is part of the executive committee of the NBA Players Association. In other words, he’s heavily involved in the discussions about whether to resume the 2019-2020 season.

He talked to our Darren ‘Doogie’ Wolfson about the COVID-19 pandemic, the conference call commissioner Adam Silver recently had with players, whether the resumption of the season could just include playoff teams, his crazy year, and more.

Tolliver has had a crazy year since departing the Wolves through free agency last summer. He signed a 1-year deal with Portland, was then traded to Sacramento in January, then was bought out of his contract in late February. Soon after, Tolliver signed a 10-day contract with Memphis. He was playing, helping them win, with his deal expiring on the day the league shutdown, March 11. He was planning on signing another 10-day deal with the Grizzlies on Thursday, March 12, and has been waiting ever since during the pandemic.

Tolliver is quarantined with his family in their Dallas-area home. He has hope that the season will resume, nothing that players want to play and want their money. Logically, the same is true of ownership groups and many others, with so much money at stake.
