The Vikings lost out on a chance to clinch a the NFC North and a playoff berth by losing 34-23 in Detroit.

A silver lining in the loss was Justin Jefferson breaking a 46-year-old franchise record for receiving yards in a game. While much of the Vikings’ gameplan sputtered, Jefferson’s 11 catches for 223 yards were the bright spot. He surpasses the longstanding single-game mark Sammy White has held since 1976.

Offensively, the Vikings run game never got going. Dalvin Cook was limited to 23 yards on 15 carries – an average of just 1.5 yards per rush. Cook’s tough day was made worse by a goalline fumble on a play designed for him to make a pass to tight end Johnny Mundt, who was open in the end zone.
