Minnesota high schools honor Class of 2020 with "#BeTheLightMN" tribute

If you’ve driven by your local high school lately and wondered why the lights are on even though there aren’t any games being played – there’s a heck of a reason.
John Millea, the Media Specialist at the Minnesota State High School League, borrowed an idea he first saw taking hold in Colorado. He went to Twitter with the #BeTheLightMN hashtag.

"BeTheLightMN" encourages high schools to leave stadium lights on at night in a tribute to students in the Class of 2020 whose senior year has been cut short by the Covid-19 pandemic.
More than 250 schools have taken part. Some are turning lights on at 8:20pm – 20:20 in military time – to honor this year’s graduates. Some schools are doing it one night a week, others every weeknight – it’s left up to each school to decide what they wish to do.
