Minnesota-Duluth’s Perunovich finally honored as 2020 Hobey Baker winner

He won the award four months ago, but like so much around sports, Minnesota-Duluth defenseman Scott Perunovich’s Hobey Baker Award ceremny was delayed by the coronavirus pandemic. He finally got his due at a golf tournament and banquet Thursday at The Royal Club in Lake Elmo.
Perunovich is the record sixth Hobey Baker winner for the Bulldogs’ prorgram. He has since signed with the St Louis Blues, forgoing his senior season in Duluth next winter.

Perunovich was joined by seven fellow Hobey Baker winners at the event, along with a large number of family members, friends and college hockey fans.

The Hibbing-native is the third defenseman in four years (Will Butcher, Denver – 2017, Cale Makar, UMAss – 2019) to win the award that goes to the top college hockey player in the nation.
