Aurora FC makes trailblazer Sarah Fuller its first signing
Minnesota Aurora FC has announced a trailblazer as its first signing.
The club on Monday announced the signing of goalkeeper Sarah Fuller.
Fuller spent the past year at the University of North Texas but spent her four prior years at Vanderbilt University, where she famously joined the Vanderbilt football team in 2020 as a place kicker and became the first woman to play and score in a Power 5 college football game.
The Wylie, Texas native had a 1.02 goals against average (GAA) in her senior year at Vanderbilt, the 10th-best mark in the school’s history, and posted three clean sheets with an 8-3-0 record over 12 games. Last year at North Texas, she finished with an 8-5-3 record with a 0.64 GAA.
“Sarah is a fantastic player and an even better person,” Aurora FC Head Coach Nicole Lukic said in a statement. “Having a leader like Sarah that has broken down barriers is a perfect fit for us.”
Fuller tweeted, “I’m so excited to be apart of this team. Couldn’t have been a better fit! #WeAreAurora”
The news comes a week after the organization announced it will play its home games at TCO Stadium and two weeks after revealing its name and logo.
The inaugural USL W season is slated to kick off in May. Aurora FC will release its 2022 schedule in the coming days.
