The top-rated player in the country on Monday committed to Gonzaga University.
Minnehaha Academy star Chet Holmgren officially announced his commitment at a ceremony in his high school gym.
Holmgren had listed Minnesota in his final list of schools he was deciding among, which also included Georgetown, Michigan, Ohio State, North Carolina, and Memphis.
Holmgren guided Minnehaha Academy to a Class AAA state championship earlier this month, the school’s fourth consecutive state title.
He follows another top recruit from Minnesota to Gonzaga in Jalen Suggs, who helped lead Gonzaga to the Final Four this season and will soon decide whether he’ll play with Holmgren at Gonzaga next season or enter the NBA Draft, where he’s projected to be one of the top picks if he declares.
