Meyers’ hat trick leads Gophers to 5-0 win against Wisconsin

Ben Meyers completed a natural hat trick in the third period as the Gophers men’s hockey team beat Wisconsin 5-0 Friday night in Minneapolis.

The win, paired with a Michigan loss to Notre Dame, puts Minnesota atop the Big Ten standings with just one regular season game remaining. The Gophers now control their own destiny and can claim the Big Ten regular season championship with a win against the Badgers Saturday night at 3M Arena at Mariucci.

Jonny Sorenson and Jaxon Nelson scored the other two goals for the Gophers.

Justen Close made 20 saves for his first collegiate shutout.
