Maple Grove took advantage of a 25 mph wind and put up 28 points in the second quarter. That was enough to secure a big 42-13 win over East Ridge at Maple Grove High School.
East Ridge took an early 7-0 lead thanks to sophomore quarterback Tanner Zolnosky who completed a pass over the middle to Brayden McDougall.

However, in the second quarter, it was Maple Grove’s turn to have the wind at their back and they took advantage of it. The Crimson had three touchdowns on the ground courtesy of Tanner Albeck, Derrick Jameson and Jacob Kilzer. If that wasn’t enough, Jacob Kilzer connected with Albeck with a touchdown pass that put the Crimson up 28-7 at halftime.
The wind was so tough, two of East Ridge’s punts went less than 10 yards.
Maple Grove will face Woodbury on November 11th at 7:00 pm at Eden Prairie High School in the Class AAAAAA quarterfinals.
