Lynx to open 2023 season hosting Sky; full schedule unveiled

The 2023 season will be the 25th for the Minnesota Lynx, who now know their schedule for the upcoming season.

Wednesday, the league unveiled the 2023 schedule, which has Minnesota opening at home against the Chicago Sky on May 19. It will be the 16th time the Lynx will open the season at home.

The season features a league-record 40 games from May 19 through Sept. 10.

Minnesota’s first two games are at Target Center before the team has its first road trip.

The Lynx noted that 11 of the team’s 20 home games will be on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

Other notable games include a battle against the reigning champion Las Vegas Aces on May 28 and the Aces coming to Minneapolis on July 9; the Lynx and the Los Angeles Sparks will face off three times in 10 days starting on June 11, the lone home matchup of the three for Minnesota; games at Chicago and Indiana to finish the season Sept. 8-10.

The in-season tournament known as the Commissioner’s Cup will also return for its third season this year, pitting conference rivals against each other. The team with the top record from each conference plays the other for a half-million-dollar prize pool.

The WNBA All-Star Game is scheduled for July 15, although more information on the game will be released later.
