Local pro and college athletes workout to stay ready for when football resumes

Local athletes worked out this week at Fernbrook Athletic Fields in Maple Grove in order to stay in shape for when sports resume again.

Former Maple Grove football star and current Montreal Alouettes wideout Jake Wieneke, Northwestern running back Evan Hull, and University of Wisconsin commit Kaden Johnson were part of the group, led by GameFace Training.

Wieneke spoke about how he is handling the sports stoppage, becoming a new father, his time in the CFL and how he is staying ready for his next shot in the NFL. He spent the 2018 preseason with the Vikings.

Hull, who starred at Maple Grove HS, talked about staying in shape, his first year at Northwestern, becoming the starting running back, and his goals for next season.

Johnson, a former standout edge rusher for Minnehaha Academy, discussed staying in shape, when he plans to leave for Wisconsin, and his goals for his first year with the Badgers.
