Lakeville South baseball upsets No. 4 Farmington

The Lakeville South Cougars defeated the No. 4 Farmington Tigers 9-2, Thursday evening at Lakeville South High School.

Farmington jumped out to an early lead when Carter Hendrickson hit an RBI triple, making it 1-0 Tigers in the top of the first inning.

Hendrickson would then score when the Cougars let up a bases-loaded walk, making it 2-0 Farmington.

In the bottom of the frame, Zac Endres hit a sac fly for the Cougars, making it a 2-1 ballgame.

Then, in the bottom of the second inning, Michael Gerda helped his own cause with a solo home run, making it a 2-2 score.

The Cougars then had a huge bottom of the third. The scoring started when Justin Loer had an RBI double. Then, Gerda had an RBI single. Finally, Logan Marrinan hit a two-RBI double, making it 6-2 Lakeville South, and capping off a four-run inning for the Cougars.

The score would remain 6-2 until the bottom of the fifth inning. Kal Brohmer safely squeezed in a runner with a gorgeous bunt, making it 7-2 Lakeville South.

Capping off the scoring for the Cougars was Gerda with a two-RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning, making it a 9-2 ballgame.

Lakeville South would shut down the Tigers in the bottom of the seventh inning to secure the victory.
