Walton Jr. saw consistent playing time his freshman year playing under the legendary Roy Williams. Once Williams retired and assistant Hubert Davis took over last season, minutes dwindled.
For his career, Walton is a 39.9% shooter from beyond the arc. He’s hit 81 career 3-pointers on 201 attempts, a clear strength he can bring Texas Tech. The Red Raiders were last in the Big 12 in 3-point shooting last season.
Walton Jr. has made at least three shots from beyond the arc in 15 of his 60 college games. And overall, he’s averaged 1.4 makes from long distance per outing.
Walton Jr. also considered Memphis and Clemson. The hometown Gophers never showed interest, per Walton Jr.
