Kenta Maeda placed on 10-day Injured List with groin strain

The Minnesota Twins announced Sunday that right-handed pitcher Kenta Maeda is placed on the 10-day injured list with a right adductor strain.

According to the release, Maeda was removed after five innings on Saturday in Cleveland due to the injury.

To replace Maeda on the 26-man roster, the Twins have recalled infielder Nick Gordon from Triple-A St. Paul.

Maeda has gone 2-2 with a 5.27 ERA (42.2 IP, 25 ER) over nine starts for the Twins this season. This will be his first stint on the injured list as a member of the Twins.

Gordon, who will be making his third stint with the Twins this season, has appeared in eight games for the Saints hitting .393 (11-for-28) with one triple, one home run, four RBI and five stolen bases. The former first-rounder recorded his first major league hit on May 6 against Texas and became the first Twins player to record two stolen bases in his debut.
