Johnson’s first commitment as Gophers coach comes from ex-DeLaSalle star Jamison Battle

New Gophers men’s basketball coach Ben Johnson landed his first recruit on Monday when George Washington transfer Jamison Battle pledged his commitment. Battle made the announcement on his Twitter account.

The sophomore averaged over 17 points and five rebounds a game this year for the Colonials, and was their second-leading scorer.

As a freshman, Battle started in 30 of 32 games. He led the conference in made 3-pointers (89), 3-point attempts (243) and shot 37% from three. He was named to the A-10 All-Rookie Team.

We talked with Battle earlier this month. Click here to watch that conversation and hear about how his game has evolved since he played at DeLaSalle High School.
