Q&A: Chaska native Jimmy Snuggerud on NHL Draft, joining Gophers, and more

Former Chaska high school star Jimmy Snuggerud is expected to be the first Twin Cities player selected in July’s NHL Draft.

We caught up with the forward at a recent training session in New Hope.

Snuggerud played for the USA Developmental Program in Michigan last season. He is a third-generation Gopher, following his father, Dave, and his grandfather, Jim Westby. Dave also played in the NHL for Philadelphia, Buffalo, and San Jose.

Snuggerud will join the Gophers for next season.

The first round of the NHL Draft is Thursday, July 7.
