Gupta, while retaining his VP title, elevated to final decision-maker when the Wolves fired president of operations Gersson Rosas right before the season. Rosas, since then, has landed with the Knicks as a consultant.

So, Gupta was in charge of navigating the trade deadline, the decision to extend guard Patrick Beverley’s contract, and more.

Nothing is guaranteed, but Gupta will surely be in the mix to be the new president of operations.
