For a second consecutive April, the Gophers men’s basketball team has been uber-aggressive in searching for talent in the transfer portal.

Last week they added two players, both expected starters. Former Prior Lake high school star and McDonald’s All-American Dawson Garcia was one of the adds.

The other: Morehead State transfer point guard Ta’Lon Cooper.

The 6-foot-4, 190-pound guard played three seasons for the Eagles. Last season, he averaged 9.1 points, 5.9 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game while shooting 33.3% from three and 40.8% from the field overall. However, he shot better his first two seasons, hitting 38.8% of his three-point attempts in 2019-20 and 2020-21.

Thanks to the extra year of eligibility because of COVID-19, Cooper has the ability to play two more collegiate seasons.
