Q&A: Gophers volleyball coach Hugh McCutcheon awaiting season opener next Friday

The 5th-ranked Gophers volleyball team opens the 2022 season next Friday in Dallas against Baylor. With training camp not starting until Aug. 9, it’s a sprint to get ready.

KSTP Sports stopped by practice on Friday, and spoke with 11th-year head coach Hugh McCutcheon.

Fifth-year libero CC McGraw and junior outside Jenna Wenaas were both named Preseason All-Big Ten. Each earned all-league honors last year.

Last year the Gophers went 23-9 (15-5 Big Ten), lost in the Regional Final.

Under McCutcheon, the Gophers have made it to four Sweet 16s, three Final Fours and two Elite Eights in 10 years. He has led Minnesota to two Big Ten Championships.
