High School Softball: Minnetonka shuts out Minneapolis Southwest

The Minnetonka Skippers softball team defeated the Minneapolis Southwest Lakers 2-0, Thursday afternoon at Minnetonka High School.

For Southwest, pitcher Kal Harris pitched a complete game, striking out 12 Minnetonka batters along the way. She did run into trouble finding the strike zone, leading to the Skippers capitalizing on getting walked. Minnetonka got on the board in the bottom of the second inning when second baseman Emma Swenson got walked with the bases loaded to make it 1-0 Skippers.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Skipper first baseman Tori Spasojevic hit a deep double off the wall. Then, pitcher Molly Oehme decided to help her own cause when she drove in Spasojevic with a single, making it 2-0 Minnetonka. Ohme finished the game 1-1, with two walks, and one RBI at the plate.

The two runs were more than Oehme needed in this game. She pitched a complete game, striking out 15 Lakers in the process.
