Gophers women’s hoops team excited to start season Tuesday

Gophers women’s basketball coach Lindsay Whalen and players Gadiva Hubbard and Jasmine Powell met with reporters Monday at Williams Arena. The Gophers open their season Tuesday afternoon at the Barn vs. Jacksonville.

Last year, the Gophers finished 8-13 overall, 7-11 in the Big Ten.

The Gophers return 12 players from last year’s squad, including all five starters from the last game of the season. Powell (14.5 PPG, 4.6 APG), Sara Scalia (14.5 PPG) and Kadi Sissoko (12.6 PPG, 6.6 RPG) all return.

Sophomore guard Katie Borowicz will miss the season after undergoing surgery to repair a non-athletic related injury.
