Gophers women’s hockey unveils 2021-22 schedule
Wednesday, the University of Minnesota Gophers women’s hockey team announced its schedule for the 2021-22 season.
The program’s 25th year includes a 34-game regular-season schedule as the team works to capture the program’s eighth national title.
Head coach Brad Frost, in his 15th season, will lead the Gophers when they kick off the season on Oct. 1-2 by hosting Ohio State at Ridder Arena.
The team’s first road series will be the following weekend at Minnesota Duluth before Minnesota State comes to Ridder Arena. Other matchups include at Colgate and Bemidji State, a home series against RIT and a split series against St. Cloud State. The Gophers also face Mercyhurst in the Smashville Showcase and either Boston College or Colgate the following day. The 2021 schedule ends with games at Wisconsin and against Minnesota Duluth in Minneapolis.
The Gophers will open the second half of the season by facing new WCHA foe St. Thomas. The two teams will meet again for two games at Ridder Arena to end the regular season Feb. 18-19.
Ridder Arena will also host the WCHA Final Faceoff on March 5-6. NCAA quarterfinals will take place March 12 before the Frozen Four takes place at Penn State’s arena from March 18-20.
