Gophers QB Tanner Morgan previews Saturday’s game vs. Western Illinois

KSTP Sports attended a news conference Tuesday featuring Gophers quarterback Tanner Morgan. 1-0 after the season-opening win over New Mexico State last Thursday, the Gophers host Western Illinois Saturday at 11 a.m.

Minnesota’s shutout win over New Mexico State in its opener carries some history. It was the first home shutout for the Gophers since a 62-0 win over Temple on Sept. 16, 2006. The Aggies were held to only 33 plays on the night, the fewest ever by a Minnesota opponent.
The Gophers have played FCS Western Illinois one previous time. Minnesota won 29-12 in Minneapolis September 2013.
