The Gopher soccer team completed its season-opening seven game non-conference stretch without suffering a single defeat. As impressive as that is, they ran through those seven games without conceding a single goal.

The Gophers 4-0-3 record has come by outscoring opponents 8-0. All three ties finished 0-0. Wins over Baylor, Drake, Wyoming and North Dakota have combined with scoreless draws against Illinois-Chicago, Mississippi State and Nebraska-Omaha.

They begin Big Ten play on Saturday hosting archrival Wisconsin. A special "Rock the Robbie" offer for $1.00 tickets is available for fans.

The Gophers’ hot start comes under first-year head coach Erin Chastain – who signed on to coach her alma mater this offseason.

Chastain – then Erin Hussey – started all four years she was a Gopher (1993-96) and served as team captain for three seasons. She was part of the 1995 Big Ten Championship winning team and still ranks seventh on the program’s all-time point-scornig list and eighth in goals.

A Plymouth, Minn. native, Chastain came home to take over as Gophers coach after 14 season as the head coach at DePaul University in Chicago.
