Gophers settle for split after 3-2 loss at North Dakota
The Gopher men’s hockey team saw their third period rally fall short in a 3-2 loss to North Dakota Saturday night in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
North Dakota jumped out to a 3-0 lead early in the third period before goals by Ben Meyers and Chaz Lucius got the Gophers back in the game. The 6th-ranked Fighting Hawks were able to hold on to the lead in the final 3:30 of regulation and earned a weekend split with 11th-ranked Minnesota.
Jack LaFontaine (9-7-0) made 23 saves for the Gophers while Zach Driscoll (10-5-0) came up with 11 stops for the Fighting Hawks.
The Gophers were outshot 26-13 on the night for their lowest shot total of the season. Both teams were 1-for-2 on the advantage.
The Gophers’ record falls to 9-7 this season. Minnesota visits Michigan next weekend.
