Gophers set spring game for May 1; 10K fans can attend

The University of Minnesota Golden Gophers football team will hold its annual spring game on May 1 and fans will be allowed to attend.

Thursday, the university said the game will be played at TCF Bank Stadium at 11 a.m. on May 1, and up to 10,000 fans will be allowed to attend, per current state health guidelines.

Admission will be free but tickets will need to be claimed prior to the game in pods of two or four. All tickets will then be distributed digitally.

Face coverings will be required for all attendees during the game and tailgating won’t be allowed on university property.

Last year’s spring game was canceled due to the pandemic.

Minnesota will open the regular season on Sept. 2 against Ohio State.
