Gophers safety Nubin to return for 2023 season
The University of Minnesota football team got some big news on Friday.
Starting safety Tyler Nubin announced on social media that he plans to return to the program for the 2023 season.
His announcement comes as a surprise, as he was expected to be a top-100 pick in the NFL Draft if he opted to turn pro. He was named All-Big Ten Second Team earlier this week.
Next season will be Nubin’s fifth with Minnesota.
This season, he tallied 55 tackles, including two for loss, along with one forced fumble and career-high marks with four interceptions and seven passes defended across 11 games.
For his career, Nubin has played 43 games, recording 154 tackles, eight interceptions and 15 passes defended.
