Gophers senior quarterback Tanner Morgan admitted on Tuesday that he needs to play better, starting this week at Indiana.

Morgan missed some throws in Saturday’s close loss at rival Iowa.

"When you have opportunities to connect on plays, you need to do that," Morgan said on Tuesday. "When you miss on those plays you tend to stall. We’re not playing the type of football we want to play at that point. It really comes down to execution."

The Gophers have a run-first offense and then opens up the passing attack. The Gophers did have success against Iowa running the ball.

Now with the sites set on Indiana this Saturday, Morgan and the rest of the team plan on getting back to what works: ball control.

"I know I have to play better if we want to win games. It starts with me. I’m not going to look at my future. I want to play better than I did against Iowa and help us have the best chance of winning," Morgan said.

If Morgan wants to, he can come back and play for the Gophers next year.

Saturday will be the final road game for the Gophers in the regular season. Indiana has lost six straight games.

Game time is set for 2:30 p.m.
