Gophers men’s basketball schedule released

The University of Minnesota men’s basketball team’s full schedule for the upcoming season was released on Thursday.

The 2022-23 slate features 31 games, including 18 at Williams Arena, as well as an exhibition contest at home against St. Olaf on Nov. 2.

Like past years, Minnesota will play two conference games at the start of December before finishing its nonconference slate and resuming Big Ten play in January.

The Gophers will open the season at home on Nov. 7 against Western Michigan. Other nonconference opponents include St. Francis Brooklyn, DePaul, Central Michigan, California Baptist, Chicago State, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Mississippi State and a matchup at Virginia Tech as part of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.

Minnesota’s two December conference games are at Purdue on Dec. 4 and at home against Michigan on Dec. 8. A trip to Wisconsin will be the first Big Ten contest when conference play resumes on Jan. 3 and Wisconsin will come to Williams Arena on March 5, the final game of the regular season.

The Big Ten Tournament is scheduled to run from March 8 through 12 in Chicago.

This season will be the team’s second with Ben Johnson at the helm.
