After landing William & Mary grad transfer Luke Loewe earlier on Friday, the Gophers secured a commitment in the afternoon from Lafayette grad transfer E.J. Stephens.

Stephens is a 6-foot-4 guard from Plantation, Florida who played four years at Lafayette. He scored in double figures the last two seasons. He averaged 16.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, and three assists a game as a senior, shooting 45.5 percent from the floor and 90 percent from the free throw line.

KSTP Sports talked with Stephens on Friday morning, prior to his official commitment. A lot of the conversation was about how he’d fit with the Gophers and about his game.

South Florida and Loyola Chicago were other schools who were in constant touch with Stephens, although he said he never connected for a Zoom with Loyola coach Porter Moser. He is said to be in the mix to take over at Oklahoma.
