University of Minnesota running back Mohamed Ibrahim has been named a preseason candidate for the 2021 Doak Walker Award, which is presented to the nation’s top college running back. He was a semifinalist for the award last season.
It’s the latest honor for Ibrahim, last year’s Big Ten Running Back of the Year. He’s also been named a preseason All-American by Athlon Sports, Phil Steele Publications and the Walter Camp Foundation, and he’s on the Maxwell Award preseason watch list.
Minnesota opens its season on Sept. 2 against Ohio State.
