Gophers’ Ibrahim named preseason candidate for Doak Walker Award
University of Minnesota running back Mohamed Ibrahim was named a preseason candidate for the 2020 Doak Walker Award on Wednesday.
Ibrahim appeared on the preseason list from PwC SMU Athletic Forum, which presents the award to the nation’s top college running back each year.

After being forced into a feature role in 2018 due to injuries, Ibrahim split time in the Gophers backfield in 2019, rushing 114 times for 604 yards and seven touchdowns. In 2018, he rushed 217 times for 1,160 yards and nine touchdowns.
Ibrahim is Minnesota’s record-holder for most career rushing yards in bowl games with 364 after rushing for 140 against Auburn in the 2020 Outback Bowl and 224 against Georgia Tech in the 2018 Quick Lane Bowl.
